Kalo living, Residential Childrens Homes

Restoring safety, stability, and hope for children and young people

About Kalo Living

At Kalo Living, we believe that every child deserves a safe, nurturing space where they can heal, grow, and begin to rebuild their story.
We provide high quality, therapeutic residential care for children and young people aged 7–17 who are experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), trauma, or disruption in their home lives.

Our homes are calm, restorative environments each designed to give children a sense of stability, belonging, and dignity. Through trauma informed care, therapeutic partnerships, and consistent emotional support, we help children rediscover who they are and what they are capable of.

Kalo Living isn’t just about residential care. It’s about changing what care feels like.

01

Our Vision

To create a national model of excellence in children’s residential care that proves care can be both compassionate and clinically informed a model that focuses on relationships before rules and potential over problems.

We want Kalo Living to represent a new standard for the future of children’s homes:
  • Homes that look and feel like real homes.
  • Teams that are highly trained, emotionally intelligent, and resilient.
  • Environments that offer both safety and opportunity.
  • A culture where every child is seen, heard, and valued.

Why Our Work Matters

Every child has a story and too often, that story begins in fear, rejection, or instability. Many of the children we support have experienced multiple placement breakdowns, trauma, neglect, or emotional harm. These experiences can lead to complex emotional and behavioural needs, mistrust, or withdrawal from education and relationships.
Without the right environment, these young people risk being misunderstood rather than supported.

That’s where Kalo Living steps in.

We provide short-stay and transitional placements that focus on safety, structure, and recovery helping local authorities and families bridge the gap between crisis and long term stability.
Every day in our homes is built around small, consistent acts of care the routines, conversations, and opportunities that help children begin to believe that life can be different.

Our Approach

Our model combines trauma informed care, therapeutic practice, and relationship based support.
We know that behaviour is communication so instead of reacting to it, we learn from it.

At Kalo Living, we focus on:

  • Emotional regulation: Teaching children how to understand and manage their feelings.
  • Attachment and trust: Rebuilding safe relationships through consistent, reliable adults.
  • Therapeutic daily life: Embedding therapy into every moment not just sessions.
  • Empowerment: Helping children make positive choices and find their voice.
  • Education and enrichment: Encouraging engagement through curiosity and creativity.
  • Preparation for independence: Teaching practical and social skills that last beyond care.

Every home is staffed by people who understand trauma, not just manage behaviour creating an environment that’s calm, structured, and emotionally attuned.

Our professionals also support the team through supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing training ensuring the care we deliver is not just kind, but clinically grounded.

What We Believe

We believe that children thrive when they are:

  • Listened to without judgement.
  • Supported by adults who care consistently.
  • Encouraged to take pride in small achievements.
  • Guided towards healing at their own pace.

We don’t see care as a process we see it as a relationship.
Our goal is to create spaces where young people can feel safe enough to start imagining their future again.
